A Government Agency managing sporting facilities
THEIR BUSINESS CHALLENGE:
The agency relies on its core data centre network to support venue operations, connectivity to its parent department, and services across its sporting facilities.
Its ageing core switching had reached end of life, reducing resilience, routing capability, and internet redundancy, and increasing operational risk across dependent services.
The upgrade needed to be carefully planned and delivered with minimal downtime to data centres, venues, and dependent services.
RESPIRO'S APPROACH:
Respiro designed and procured new core Layer 3 switches connecting the agency’s two physical data centres over dark fibre. The team consolidated legacy switching onto the new core platform and introduced dynamic routing to improve WAN failover to the parent department.
Respiro also deployed active-active firewalls to provide redundant internet connectivity. Working with the client’s SMEs, the team organised a public BGP ASN so the agency could use its assigned APNIC /24 prefix across two ISPs. The migration was staged and validated step by step to minimise downtime.
