THEIR BUSINESS CHALLENGE:
The bank is one of Australia's major financial institutions, with a large data centre estate supporting core banking, payments and digital services for millions of customers.
Years of growth, acquisitions and platform change had left the bank with multiple overlapping data centre network layers, inconsistent designs and duplicated services across its data centres, creating avoidable operational complexity in an environment that supports critical banking services.
The resulting complexity increased the effort required to deliver and support new services. The bank needed to consolidate its data centre network onto a simpler, more consistent architecture while migrating existing services with minimal risk to critical banking operations.
RESPIRO'S APPROACH:
We partnered with the bank's infrastructure and architecture teams to assess the existing data centre network environment and design a consolidated target architecture that reduced duplication, simplified network layers and created a clearer operating model for the bank's data centres.
The design consolidated multiple legacy network platforms into a smaller number of consistently built, well-documented network domains. This improved supportability, reduced reliance on fragmented legacy designs and provided a stronger foundation for future capacity and resilience needs.
Respiro then planned and led the migration of services from the legacy environment onto the new consolidated network, sequencing each stage to maintain availability and minimise risk to critical banking services throughout the transition.
Throughout delivery, Respiro worked closely with the bank's operations, risk and change teams to ensure each migration stage was tested, carefully scheduled and fully documented before cutover.
BUSINESS OUTCOMES:
